That there are endless possibilities, but only 24 hours in a day? I feel this way quite often, especially when I travel. My exception is Scotland (and Ireland, but that's another story). I return to Scotland regularly because I love the country, the people, the culture, and the landscapes. However, with each trip, I try to discover new places because Scotland has so much to offer. My favourite way to travel is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiscoverytravel.com\/en\/2024\/05\/10\/voyager-seul-les-10-peurs-qui-nous-bloquent-pour-partir-en-voyage-solo\/\">by train,<\/a>but you can also arrive by car or by bus. You can even reach Perth by plane (or at least get close to Perth, arriving at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiscoverytravel.com\/en\/2024\/10\/04\/visiter-edimbourg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a>however the city does not have an airport.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-19118c5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"19118c5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Arriving in Perth by Train<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5283f87 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5283f87\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Trains from <strong>Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, and Inverness<\/strong> serve Perth. The journey from Edinburgh takes about an hour and a half, while the trip from Glasgow takes just over an hour.<\/p><p>From France, you can take the<strong> Eurostar<\/strong> (from Paris or Lille) to London and then travel to Perth. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiscoverytravel.com\/en\/2024\/04\/26\/survivre-un-long-trajet-des-astuces-pour-un-voyage-confortable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The train journey might seem a bit long<\/a> (6 hours from London or 9 hours from Paris), but trust me, it's worth it. The<strong> Edinburgh-Perth<\/strong> leg offers breathtaking scenery. Practical tip: reserve a seat on the train, as they can sometimes be fully booked. taking <a href=\"https:\/\/gyg.me\/UXUG3CLO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a guided tour of the city.<\/a>Our guide, full of passion, told us the story of the Stone of Destiny. With grand gestures and jokes (sometimes hard to understand due to the accent), he shared with us what this Stone represents for Scotland. Ten years later, when I visited Perth, I had the pleasure of seeing it with my own eyes.<\/p><p>The earliest origins of the Stone are unknown, but what we do know is that it was kept a few kilometers from Perth, at<strong>Scone Abbey,<\/strong>which was then one of the most important religious and political centers of the kingdom. It is believed that it was used for the coronation of Scottish kings until 1296, when it was seized and taken to London by Edward I of<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiscoverytravel.com\/en\/2024\/06\/20\/york-angleterre-un-voyage-passionnant-au-coeur-de-lhistorie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">England.<\/a><\/strong>Edward had the Stone of Destiny embedded in the base of a specially commissioned oak chair, kept at Westminster Abbey. This chair was named <strong>King Edward\u2019s Chair,<\/strong>or Saint Edward\u2019s Chair, in honor of Edward the Confessor. Today, it is more commonly known as the <strong>Coronation Chair.<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Since then, almost every English and British monarch has been crowned while seated on this ancient chair during their coronation ceremony. So, you won\u2019t be surprised to learn that the Stone has been stolen at least once. On Christmas 1950, the Stone disappeared from <strong>Westminster Abbey.<\/strong>A few months later, on April 11, 1951, it reappeared at<strong>Arbroath Abbey in Scotland,<\/strong>a symbolic location for the Scottish nationalist struggle. The stone was stolen by four students from the University of Glasgow, aligning with the fight for Scottish independence. They managed to break into <strong>Westminster Abbey.<\/strong> and steal the Stone, unfortunately damaging it in the process.
